Three White Dresses

Just like good music, sometimes visual art can touch our spirits and help us learn and grow.  Today I would like to post about Ken's image of Three White Dresses.  Ken was first asked to make a drawing like this for a ward Relief Society event. He wanted to bring it to life as an oil painting.  He used my nieces as models for the bride and infant and our eight year old daughter as the child.  That eight year old daughter is now serving a mission. Sandra McGee was the first person we had respond to having this image.  She shares the following story:

I would love to tell my story. Several years ago I was relief society president. We were planing an activity and I felt very prompted to do something on the importance of temples and invite the young women of our ward and girls 8 and up.  As I researched I came across ken's beautiful art of the young woman in wedding dress with a younger girl in baptism dress and a baby in blessing dress with the temple in background. I was so touched by this picture that I built the whole evening around this, down to the colors and daisies. I wanted each sister to have this beautiful picture. I live in Washington state so I contacted ken about purchasing 75-100. He was very nice and helpful. I was visiting family in Utah soon after and asked him if I could come by and pick them up so he wouldn't need to mail them. I came to your home and picked up the pictures. I remember how beautiful it was to see his art displayed in your home. It was also so wonderful to hear him talk about each one and some of the story behind the temple art. It was a wonderful memory and I shared it with the sisters the evening of the activity. It was one of the highlights during my time in relief society. Several years later I had the blessing of working with a young women that had been there that evening. She came from a part member home. That night had left an impact on her.  I have displayed this beautiful art in my home for my 9 granddaughters to see every time they come. I pray that it prints an impression on their hearts about these special covenants they make and the blessing of the temple in their future.  I love the talent and spirit kens art has played in my life. Thanks you for your impact!!
